Thought For Today - December
The Unfinished
How many things in your life are unfinished? Projects, conversations, tasks, documents..... Leave things unfinished if: a) it's no longer relevant or a priority b) it needs to be done in small steps or needs time for a better response But if it's still relevant or a priority, or if it's unfinished because of laziness, then it's time to decide to finish the unfinished, once and for all. |
Energy for Earth
Like everything else, the earth too responds to our energy. Are you supplying the earth with good energy? When you’re out walking and you see a bit of green grass or some trees, or admire the sky, the clouds or the sunset - nourish the earth with the energy of gratitude and kindness. |
Lighten your Headache
Most of us have the habit of thinking too much, especially when situations collide in our head. Think too much and it makes our head heavy – it’s one of the main causes of headaches. Avoid thinking too much and take care of your head. Try not to let situations collide in your head. If they do, try not to think too much. If you do, then try to lighten up. |
A Relationship Audit
Ever thought about doing a relationship audit? Right about now seems a good time to take an inventory of your personal & professional relationships. Take stock of what's going well & what's not. Determine how to fix the relationships that need fixing, & nurture the ones that need nurturing. Do a relationship audit to better your approach & to make your relationships better. |
Dance Your Way
If you want to de-stress from the Christmas rush or stay healthy over the festive period – here’s an easy tip: Dance. It’s good for your posture, muscle strength and your fun-factor. Turn on the music and dance around the room, step onto that dance floor at the next party, or find a dance class near you – and salsa, hip-hop disco, freestyle…. Dance your way to better well being. |
Using criticism constructively
How do you react to criticism? Do you deny, blame, close off…? Remember, it’s not your whole character being criticized. Face any shortcoming with courage and welcome the chance to polish the rough edges of your character. |
Humility Defined
Humility dismisses nothing. Rather, it takes small things into consideration, recognising that whatever life presents, needs to be respected. |
Consider the Opposite
Would you like to discover new horizons, expand your learning? There is one simple, inexpensive thing you can do - take time to consider the opposite. Whether you're considering ideas, making decisions or participating in conversations - consider the opposite. Consider the opposite and not only will you broaden your mind but you'll also find that others will oppose you less. |
A Little Bit of Nothing
Would you say that doing a little bit of nothing every day is unproductive? Why don’t you try and see if it works for you. You may find that doing a little bit of nothing every day makes you more productive and relaxed. Go on, indulge in doing a little bit of nothing, every day. Just make sure you don’t feel guilty about it or overindulge in it. Do nothing and really enjoy it. |
Rejection Happens
Ever been rejected by someone? No-one likes being rejected, but it does happen. If you don’t want rejection to crush you, here are 3 steps: 1. Accept the rejection and accept other people’s choices. 2. Understand that rejections are rarely personal, so take it less personally. 3. Instead of rejecting rejection, learn from what went wrong and where you went wrong. Use the information to become better and stronger. |
The Best in Someone
When someone’s not at their best, notice the best in them. How? Ask yourself: What’s the one quality I appreciate in this person? What small success have I noticed this person have today? Notice the successes and qualities, however small. Keep these in your mind every time you think of them or interact with them. Then you’ll slowly begin to draw the best out of them. |
Any 2014 Regrets?
2014 is nearly over. Any regrets? Do you wish you had done things differently? Well, you can’t change the past, but you think about the things you want to modify and do differently, otherwise 2015 will be pretty much the same as 2014. This way, you’ll get the best out of your regrets. |
Abundance
To experience a life of abundance focus on what you have, rather than on what you feel is missing in your life. Count the good things, the riches in your life and give thanks for them. This begins to create a feeling of abundance. |
Smile
Smiling saves energy and elicits a positive response from both others and your own brain. |
Expectations and Reactions
When someone does not conform to your expectations - do you react? Well, expecting people to conform to your expectations is a bit unrealistic. As the owner of your reactions, take your foot off the accelerator of expectations and put your foot on the brake of acceptance. Not only will you calm your reactions, but your ability to positively influence others will also increase. |
