Default The Way We Are

It is not uncommon for all of us when we begin our recovery to resign to the fact that this is just how we are and that there's nothing that's ever going to be done to change that for any of us. This is so far from the truth for all of us that it's unbelievable now that we've joined recovery. Recovery is all about change and all of us changing too, and more importantly for those of us who are just starting out is how this can be accomplished, which is something none of us knew how to do but all wanted so badly for ourselves because in one way or another we've all come to not liking ourselves and not being able to do anything to change this. We're all stuck and we've all been for a while and we can stay stuck as long as any of us want to be but there's really no need for this any longer now that we've found recovery none of us have to be stuck in not being able to change any more. All we have to do right now in this moment is be willing to change, which is what we all wanted for ourselves to begin with, and to get this we all choose to stop fighting everyone including ourselves on how to go about doing this and simply follow what all of those in recovery who have come before us did to change themselves and it will happen for us as well. Then we too will know when this has happened for us that this is the way we really are which is far different from the person we all brought in with us into recovery who all of us thought we were .
