In Over Our Heads
Doing the best we can is all that's going to be asked of us now that we're in recovery. For many of us we always thought we had to be the best at everything we did, or we didn't want anything to do with it. It was this kind of self destructive thinking that led many of us into recovery. No one can be the best at everything, but as long as we're trying to do the very best in all that we do, that will be good enough for now on. This is hard for us to learn and accept that we can't be the best at everything, but it does teach us to accept who we are, and to be okay with that. It also keeps us from having to try to be someone we are not, just for approval and then trying to be that person. No matter how hard we tried doing this, it never worked because we knew that wasn't who we were.
