Safe
Safe
I trust in the Divine, and my heart is comforted. I may feel anxious or apprehensive in the face of uncertainty or change. When I am out of my comfort zone, I may feel afraid. At such times, I take a moment to breathe and center myself. I remember that every cell of my being is infused with God, and I am never separate from the Divine. I realize the futility of worry and lean on divine strength and protection. As situations arise, I choose to respond, not simply react, from the power and presence of Spirit within. I put God first, and my way is made clear. Regardless of appearances, I am secure knowing God is always with me. My heart is comforted as I trust in the Divine. I am at peace, and I am safe. The fear of others lays a snare, but one who trusts in the Lord is secure.—Proverbs 29:25 Daily Word

Had a lot of insecurities in my life, the 12 Step program allowed me to overcome all those old fears and phobias. It was a great day for me when I could stand on my balcony and watch a thunderstorm. I felt safe for the first time. I use to hide under the covers in the past.
Our house was struck by lightning when I was 5 years old. My fear was deep seated, yet thanks to the program, I was able to get to the root of that fear and turn it into faith. My mother use to wake us up out of bed, bring us down to the living room, unplug everything, and if it was really bad, put us into the car. It didn't matter that the house and garage had lightning rods, she kept her fears rooted in the past into today. She was a good Christian woman and had much faith, very strong and yet it was something she couldn't let go of. As they say, fear and faith can't occupy the same space. It feels like we have faith, and yet when we take an honest look at ourselves, worry, anxiety, fear, insecurities, etc. can be hidden within our denial.
