The Obsessive Types That We Are
None of us would ever choose to be the way we are no more then we could choose what eye color we have. We come this way and we don't know we're different from other people who don't have this problem because the way we are seems so natural to us it's easy for all of us to assume everyone else is like us, they're not, and in time we all have come to find this out. There's something different about us and as a group we tend to be obsessive, and it doesn't matter what the subject of our obsession is, because it's equally damaging for us all because of being prone to obsession. None of us would have ever chosen to be obsessive types, and we don't. It's just the way we are and the sooner we realize this about ourselves the sooner we'll be able to find some way we can live with being the way we are. And to date the only thing that's really proven to do that with any real success has been recovery. We're all free to try to find whatever we can that will work for us. None of us have done anything that causes us to be the why we are, but all of us are responsible for finding out how we can live with the way we are without allowing it to destroy ourselves and everyone around us.

Yes. I am responsible for finding a way that helps me recover without hurting anyone. The 12 steps have been working for me for a long time
