Default Rebecca's intro

Hello everyone,

My name is Rebecca and I am desperate to get off heroin. I have tried cold turkey but get so dehydrated I ultimately fail. I am allergic to Suboxone and others like it, so I was going to try to wean off this crap. I was wondering if anyone else has had success weaning themselves off?

Hole in my Soul,
Rebecca

Hi Rebecca,
Welcome to our community!! I am glad that you are wanting to get off heroin. Detox from opiates can be very dangerous. I suggest you consult a physician to help you. Please browse around the forums, there is lots of information here. Continue to come here and post. We are a group of people that will support and encourage you on your journey. Again, welcome.

Default The doctor route

That's just it! Doctors don't understand why I am allergic to the blocker medications. That is why I was wondering if anyone had success weaning off. Is it even possible, physiologically or biologically?

Thanks,
Rebecca

Welcome to the site, thank you for sharing. I have only heard of someone using Methadone, and it too can be addictive.

I would suggest detox, with people who have the experience with the drug. I would also suggest NA meetings, you don't have to be clean to go to your first meeting, but you can't have any drugs or para-failure on your person. There is also Cocaine Anonymous, so they may have Heroin Anonymous too, depending on what area you live in.

Suggested treatment:

Hello Rebecca ! I have lot's of experience with heroin. I was addicted to it for ten years. I tried to wean myself off {but } never could once I started to withdraw with less I would give in because it would make it all go away! Medical Detox at at a detox center is your best answer. They have other things such as subutex now this allergy to suboxone was it a reaction because og an allergy, because I had reaction to it because I took it to soon , it should be 24 hours with no drugs in your system and into withdraw before taking it because if it is to soon it does the opposite and throws you into withdraw. all those just prolong the thing you are trying to get out of the withdraw and sickness... but a detox center can get you through it with other meds and make it doable. then I suggest intensive out patient, meetings and a sponsor and start with wanting this for your self more than any thing in the world. new friends in recovery, new places, and new things in your life... prayer and support with this site and friends who have gone through it and are willing to get you through it. I'm praying for you keep coming back and stay ! I went to a place in Arizona that was free and they saved my life called COMMUNITY BRIDGES in Mesa Arizona. but I am sure they have them near you some where. Getting off was rough but that's a couple of days the real hard part is staying off that is when the real work starts God bless we love and are pray'n for you
