We all think we're so unique. It's like a knee jerk reaction for most of us when we're introduced to the program of recovery. It explains to us why the program is not going to work for us. The sooner we accept the fact that we're all pretty much run of the mill the sooner we'll be able to get on with the program. This wanting or thinking we're so unique can be dangerous and if we're not careful it can lead to killing us. We're all pretty much from some mold with a few variations which is why the same 12 steps work for everyone if we let them. We never want to think of ourselves to be so unique that we're beyond help. There's power in numbers, and once we recognize we're pretty much the same as everyone else we'll have that power.
