Be Content
With all the new gadgets and devices on commercials and in stores, our desire for new things seems to increase. We see ads for ways to make ourselves look better. We see commercials for things that will make our lives easier. We see stores advertise their products and say we just need to order today. Their purpose is to sell and make money. And they do this by telling us we need their products. However, if we are in a right relationship with God, we know we don't need wealth or things of the world to be happy. We know God is all we need and we should be content with what He has given to us. SCRIPTURE: Hebrews 13:5 "Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, 'Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.'" (NIV) ACTION STEPS: 1. Write out some things you have been wanting. 2. List the means you have to get these things. 3. Know God has plans for you and can give you all you need. 4. Trust in God for what you need and be content with what you have. PRAYER: Dear Lord, help us not desire the things of the world. Remind us these things are just items that keep us focused on anything other than You. We know true contentment is what we need because if we love money and what it can buy us, we will never seem to have enough. We will always be wanting more. Help us seek You and find ways to be content with what You give to us each and every day. In Jesus' name. Amen. REMEMBER: When we focus on God, we will not want for anything else. 1 Timothy 6:6 "But godliness with contentment is great gain." (KJV) When we love money and what it can buy us, we will never be content. Ecclesiastes 5:10 "Those who love money will never have enough. How meaningless to think that wealth brings true happiness!" (NLT) When we follow Jesus, we have all we need. FOCUS: Psalm 23:1 "The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need." (NLT) Psalm 23:1 "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want."
