Growing Into Spiritual Maturity
From the time we are born, we grow both physically and mentally. We learn to sit up, stand and walk. We learn our alphabet, our numbers and how to read. We continue in school until we learn all we need to find a job or career in this world. But what about our spirit? How are we growing spiritually? That is something this world does not teach us. We can only learn how to grow spiritually through Jesus Christ. Sometimes we get too busy in life and forget God wants us to grow spiritually and grow into maturity. Luke 8:14 “The seeds that fell among the thorns represent those who hear the message, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the cares and riches and pleasures of this life. And so they never grow into maturity.” (NLT) Luke 8:14 “And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.” (KJV) Dear Lord, You do so much for us. You give us Your word. You give us Your promises. You give us Your love. And, sometimes, we just continue on in our daily lives as if You aren’t even around. We take for granted all Your promises and Your gifts. Lord, please show us our spiritual gifts and teach us how we can grow spiritually so we can live for You according to Your will and not our own. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen. Our lives should not be so consumed with the things of the world that we forget we are called to grow into spiritual maturity. We can only learn how to grow into spiritual maturity by having a right relationship with God. Don’t let the riches and pleasures of life move us away from spiritual growth. When we choose to grow into spiritual maturity, we take time to read God’s word. God gives us what we need to grow spiritually. It is up to us to use what He has given. 1 Peter 2:2 “Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment,” (NLT) Focus: Let’s not get so busy in life that we forget to work on our spiritual growth and live for God. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_pu...log_id=6007219
