When we consider joining recovery it usually feels like we have to give up so much practically everything. This makes our decision to join harder than it has to be. Looking at it in a practical way will help make this so much easier for us to decide . First the only thing we really give up is our drinking and drug use and when we do all the misery and trouble that comes from them will go away already we'll be better off. Secondly, all the good times, camaraderie and intimacy we had with others is part of recovery. We wouldn't have it any other way. The very spiritual essence of recovery only enhances these things making them far better than anything we have ever experienced before, you'll not want to miss out on this. So really it is an easy decision, we give up what's causing us trouble, and find a way to live a better life. For me when I looked at it this way it seemed like a pretty simple decision to make.
