After 86 years why hasn't this program of recovery been replaced by something better ? Why is it still around? With all the advancements in technology one would think something better would have come along by now. Maybe the answer for this can be found in all the people who have been helped by it. The program does for us what we can't do for ourselves when we do the steps. Without us even knowing it or giving our permission the need for us to drink is taken from us. Gone just like that the very thing that we could never do has been done. We don't even want to drink even if we could. Just ask anyone in recovery and they will tell you we don't know why it works, it just does. This could explain why nothing better has come along to replace it because we don't even know how it works it just does.
