The program of recovery is one of action for all of us, and each of us gets to decide what each of us will get out of it, by exactly what we're willing to put into it. For many of us this will be nothing, because we're unwilling to do what it takes so we can take these actions, or because we think that someone else should do this for us. Recovery does work like that, and the only way it can work is if we're willing to do what it takes so that we can do the actions that it requires we take. For all of us with this problem this was something new that there was actually something that we could do that would work to keep us from that impending doom that was lurking right around the corner for most of us by the time we got to recovery. Unfortunately, depending on when we get to recovery not all of us are motivated enough to be willing to do what it takes, to make recovery happen for them, and for all of us who are like this, what we've all been trying to avoid happening eventually does, one way or another. There is no other way when it comes to those of us who have this problem; either we become willing to do what it takes to do the program of action found in recovery, or we fall victim to what's going to happen next to all of us who don't.
