We all get our first glimpse of it as we look at what's proposed for all of us to do to be in recovery. We see it at the very end of the process that we're all trying to put ourselves through. Because of the shaky ground that we're all on with ourselves when we get to recovery we'll all think there's no way I'll ever be able to do that, help someone else. Little do we know then that the reason for all of us going through with this whole process of recovery is to just that and is what we're all being groomed for. This is what recovery has been about from the beginning and is what it means to all of us now, for all of us to be able to learn how to spread our own wings so that we can become useful to someone else, and to ourselves. We'll all find it hard to believe that those who are helping us once felt as we all do now about being able to help someone else, but the time comes very early on in this process where we all know that what's been given to all of us is a gift, and from that point on we'll also know that the only way that any of us will ever be able to hang on to this is by all of us being able to learn how to give it away, to someone else who is also in desperate need of it, just as we all once were.
