A Gentle Mind
Thoughts fill our minds all day. Ideas, dreams, worries and doubt keep our minds busy. If we want a gentle mind, we are going to need to change our thoughts. To have a gentle mind we have to fill our minds with peace and God’s love. To have peace, we need to read God’s word. To read God’s word, we have to set aside time to do that. To set aside time means to give up something else we are currently doing. To give up something requires a commitment to change. We can’t profess to have a gentle mind when it is cluttered with the things of the world. We need to fill it with God so He can push all things out that are not of Him. Philippians 4:8-9 “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.” (NLT) Dear Lord, take control of our lives today. Create in us the desire to hunger for Your word. Move us to read Your word and learn it. Fill our minds completely with Your word and Your love and Your peace. We pray today for a gentle mind. One that will love as You want us to love. One that will give as You want us to give. One that will have peace and encourage that peace in others. Thank You, Lord, for the changes You are going to create in our lives today. In Jesus’ name. Amen. God can change us if we will only go to Him and give our lives to Him. Doing what the world wants rather than what God wants will fill our minds with all that is evil. We need to give up the things that pull us away from God. Plain and simple. In order for our conversations to be pleasing to God, we have to learn His words so we can use them to help others. Colossians 4:5-6 “Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.” (NLT) When we fix our thoughts on God and all that is good, He will give us peace and a gentle mind. Focus today: Let’s fill our minds with God rather than the things of the world. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_pu...d=FRANCESLUCAS
