Default Search Me, God

God's Word For Today

Search Me, God

Read Psalms 136:1 through 142:7

True or false, multiple choice, fill in the blank, short answer, essay, and open book. You probably have taken tests in these formats multiple times throughout your life. You may have pulled an all-nighter preparing for a big final. Did it help?

David had been expressing delight at the attention the Lord had paid to him throughout his life and even before he was born. God had searched and tested him in the past. But David knew he could not make it on his own. He needed the One who could find the deep hidden sins in his heart. So David asked God to test his heart and thoughts.

Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting (Psalm 139:23–24).

Vacuuming the carpet seems to clean the floor. However, when you use the carpet shampooer you find dirt that was missed. If you ask Him to, God searches and cleans away deep and hidden sins.

Prayer Suggestion: Ask God to test and cleanse you and set you on a path that pleases Him.
