Default Repairing the Damage

God's Word For Today

Repairing the Damage

Read Joel 1:1 through 3:21

“I made so many mistakes with my son Paul as he was growing up,” Jill shared with Barb, her best friend. “He’s twenty-four, his life is a mess, and his choices are dangerous. Will he ever get on the right track?”

Barb thought for a minute then responded, “God says He will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten. We all make mistakes with our children. God is a God of renewal and restoration. Don’t give up. Pray that God will restore what these years have taken. Then trust His timing.”

“I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten—the great locust and the young locust, the other locusts and the locust swarm” (Joel 2:25).

Joel promised Israel that when they repented and their hearts turned back to God, He would allow their land to flourish again. God’s Word relates story after story of people and nations, in obedience to God’s call, shifting from devastation to renewal. Those stories remind us to rely on His almighty power and not allow present circumstances to dishearten us.

Prayer Suggestion: Lord, I trust Your power, in Your timing, to repair the damage that has resulted from sin.

Quicklook: Joel 2:21–25
