C is for...
I am restored from that hopeless state of mind and body, still can be a little crazy, but it is not like the insanity of my disease. When I apply the Steps, I take myself out of the state of active addiction.

C is for Care. We put our life into the Care of God. He will direct our path, give us strength and courage, all we have to do is acknowledge Him and remember to take Him with us through out our day.
My sponsor use to say,"Suit up and show up for your day and the rest will follow." A lot is me and my attitude. It generally needs changing and aligning my will with my God's Will for me in today.

C is for Change. We come into recovery and go through change. It is a slow process and as we go through the Steps, we are transformed into a new being, just like the butterfly.

C is for Cover. When in doubt, cover the basics. Go to a meeting, talk to your sponsor, get active in your home group and if you have two years, get active in service outside of your home group. There is the Activities and Hospital and Institutions. Apply the Steps to all areas of your life. Cover your disease in all the ways it manifests itself in your life. Substitution doesn't work.

C is for Computers. They can be a blessing and a curse. They can take us away from where our God would have us be in today. I know I had to put my computer into the care of my God and ask for my thinking to be changed.

C is for Came to believe. We came to AA/NA/OtherAnonymous, we came to, and we came to believe that the program would work for us. I went to AA for my denial, I went to NA for identification, I went to ACoA and was grateful that I had gone to AA first or I might have died of my own disease. I was so busy blaming others, and didn't stop to look at myself. I went to Al-Anon and that is where I found myself. I came to believe that I could identify with both sides of the street.

C is for Change. Change the negative into a positive. I believe there is good to be found in everyone. It takes one to know one, so it is best that I take my own inventory.

C is for Character. When we do our inventory, we not only look at the negative, but try to focus on the positive and build our self-esteem. We are not bad people trying to get good. We are sick people trying to heal and develop our true character, not the character that was lost due to our addiction(s).

C is for Catch. I had to give myself time to catch onto the program. I brought the body and eventually the mind followed. The key to the program is the 12 Steps. I went to a lot of Step meetings and listened to what others had to share. I learned through others by listening to what they had to say. They said to take what I needed and leave the rest. I did that until I heard a friend (met him at his first meeting) say, "Take what you need, but take what you don't need too. You might come across someone who does need it and you can pass it on."
Don't leave until the miracle happens. Catch onto another fellowship member and hang on for dear life. For me using and a relapse wasn't an option. I had to be willing to do what ever it took to stay clean and sober.
