The recovery process is and has always been based on you being able to help someone else. When new this may seem impossible to do, but it's not for many different reasons. First, our showing up at meetings reminds those who are there why they should stay there, and in an indirect way we are helping them. As we work the 12 steps we get a message to carry to others, but before that happens we are the ones that those newer than us feel the closest to not some who's been around awhile. This gives us the advantage of sharing what we know so far with them and this is being very helpful. This is the very spirit of wanting to help others even without knowing everything about the program that made recovery what it is today and you can do your part starting today.
