When Guilt Overwhelms
WHEN GUILT OVERWHELMS
We all deal with guilt at one point in our lives. Some of us daily. We feel guilty about everything. How each of us handle guilt is different. Some of us focus on the issue way too much and feel bad about what happened and wonder what we could have done differently. Some try to push the guilt out of our minds and do other things. While some take our guilty feelings out on others by being aggressive and even blaming someone else for what happened. When guilt overwhelms, we need God. Psalm 38:4 “My guilt overwhelms me— it is a burden too heavy to bear.” (NLT) Dear Lord, our guilt is heavy and too much for us. Sometimes our guilt is unnecessary and sometimes it is due to something we shouldn’t have done or said. We come to You, Lord, to help us deal with our guilt. Show us what to do. Tell us what to say. Remove our guilty feelings and help us to make things right so we can continue on the path You have set before. In Jesus’ name. Amen. When guilt overwhelms us, we need God. The guilt we feel for something we truly did can be corrected with God’s forgiveness and help. We need to pray when we feel guilty about something we didn’t even do. God can help us through our feelings. Guilt can be overbearing and can consume us and keep us from doing God’s will. But God can move us past the guilt. When pressure and stress and guilt bears down on us, we can find joy in God’s word. Psalm 119:143 “As pressure and stress bear down on me, I find joy in your commands.” (NLT) Focus: Whatever we feel guilty about, let go and let God handle it. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_pu...d=FRANCESLUCAS
