Three Fold Disease
When I was learning about the illness I suffer from I was told it's a three fold disease of mind, body and spirit. I knew all too well that my body was sick. I could see that, and as for my mind I could feel it slipping off as my thoughts were coming more and more bizarre. I could only watch as both the decline in mind and body continued because I was unable to stop myself from drinking no matter how hard I tried. I was so shocked to hear that we first straighten out spiritually and then the mind and body follow. I had no idea of what my spiritual illness was. I think mine started when I chose to believe against the idea of a god having anything to do with everything. I can see the same spiritual illness in others that had events occur or things happen to them that lead them to the same godless idea. Recovery restores us so we are able to get re-connected with our spiritual part again, and once we do the rest does follow.
