Default God's Will and Not Our Own

GOD’S WILL AND NOT OUR OWN

So many times when we want things our way, we get discouraged. It’s because we are struggling to do things on our own rather than giving them to God. It’s because we are trying to get what we want rather than working toward God’s will. It’s because we are looking at the things of the world rather than focusing on the word of God. Rather than wanting things our way and trying to venture out on our own, let’s look to God and see what His plans are for us. Because His plans are the reason we are here and when we obey Him, submit to Him and trust in Him, we will succeed.

Mark 14:36 “’Abba, Father,’ he cried out, ‘everything is possible for you. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.’” (NLT)

Dear Lord, we want Your will to be done and not our own. We want to know what Your plans are for us and we want to obey. We know there may be suffering. We know there may be people who want to harm us. We know there may be people who laugh or discourage us. However, we want to remain focused on You and do Your will. Because, as Jesus said, “everything is possible for You.” We put our hope and trust in You. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

We can better endure through struggles when we remember they are opportunities to share God’s word.

We can better endure through hard times when we realize everything is possible with God.

We can better endure through tough situations, when we give our worries and burdens to God.

We can better endure through getting things done, when we focus on God’s will and not our own.

We can better endure through trials when we realize it is a chance to grow deeper in God’s word.

James 1:3 “For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.” (NLT)

Focus: When we focus on God’s will and not our own, God can help us endure through anything.
