Fooling Who
Getting away with it is a fantasy many of us in recovery have. We love to think about how we could sneak a few, and that no one would ever know about. Sometimes we fantasize about this to the point where we're actually in real danger of relapsing. None of us is ever exempt from doing this, and we can find ourselves there very quickly, faster than we know. However once we have found out the truth about ourselves and our problem it ruins this practice we had had before of trying to fool others to fool ourselves. It no longer works because we know, and because we now know the truth we'll never be able to fool ourselves again. Many who have tried fooling themselves after knowing the truth say that it eats away at them like nothing else they had ever experienced. To thine own self be true is the only way that works now after we know the truth about ourselves.
