Default A Family Torn

How intense the anger; what depth the pain
That feeds the fuel for resentment to reign
Over a family that once was one
The rifts growing wider; more tragedy born
No speaking; no listening; no healing the pain
Just bitterness and sadness; a Family Torn.

Brother against sister in turmoil and hate
Spills over to children, thus sealing their fate
Not even death has been able to heal
The hurt, the betrayal, the loss that they feel.

A greater tragedy than death is the fact
That stubbornness and greed prevails
Over accepting each other and looking ahead
To our children's future, and all that entails.

Does a child have to suffer the conflicts of past?
Issues not dealt with; the die to be cast
Of rejection, alienation; of being alone
To bear the brunt of past sins still not atoned?

Or can they find freedom; to be given at last
The gift of a family, not torn as the past
A family reborn and recovery bound
With new-found forgiveness and acceptance found.

The choice, it seems is painfully clear
a family so torn is a family with fear
Can that fear be conquered: a generation appear?
Who can forgive and accept
A new life starting here.
