Proverb A Day – Day 23 by SGLY Ministry

Today’s Proverb: Don’t envy sinners, but always continue to fear the LORD. For surely you have a future ahead of you; your hope will not be disappointed. Proverbs 23:17-18 [NLT]

Today’s Thought:
We are to take our eyes off this present world and those who live for it.
Each day we should continue looking up and looking ahead, keeping our focus on the Lord and His plan for us.
For scripture says: "Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.”
Colossians 3:2 NKJV

Today’s Action:
Today:
I will not envy sinners or desire the things of this world
I will keep my eyes and mind focused on heavenly things
I will be zealous in my obedience to the Lord
I will focus on the Lord in all I say and do.
I will keep looking up and looking ahead, seeking the Lord’s will for my life

Today's Scripture: This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. (Psalm 118:24, NLT)

Today’s Blessings

In every season of our life, we’re tempted to focus on our present burdens and miss the blessings. We love it when we receive the blessing—the promotion, the new house, the baby—but with the blessing comes new burdens—responsibilities, payments, cares. Rather than enjoy where we are on the way to where we’re going, we get so caught up in the challenges that we miss the beauty of this moment. You could be in one of the best seasons of your life, but you don’t realize it because you’re focused on the struggles, on what you don’t like, on what’s taking so long.

At some point you have to put your foot down and say, “This is the day the Lord has made, and I will not allow my burdens to steal my enjoyment of my blessings.” Change your perspective. Shift your focus from the burden to the blessing, from what’s wrong to what’s right, from what you don’t have to what you have. Make the most of every day.

A Prayer for Today: “Father, thank You for this day and for this season of my life. Thank You for every blessing You’ve given me, and thank You for the burden and responsibilities that have come with them. Help me to make the most of every day by focusing on Your goodness. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Desiring to Please Him in All Things

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth to show Himself strong in behalf of those whose hearts are blameless toward Him. —2 Chronicles 16:9

Anyone who loves God wants to please Him. Just having the desire to please Him pleases Him. A desire to please God is necessary— it motivates us to seek His will in all things. People who have a deep desire to please God may not perform perfectly all the time, but they keep pressing forward and always have the attitude of wanting to improve.

In 2 Chronicles 16:9, we see God is searching to and fro for someone whose heart is perfect toward Him. The Scripture does not say He is looking for someone with a perfect performance, but rather someone with a perfect heart—a heart desiring to please Him.

Power Thought: I desire to please God.

The Prince of Peace

Today's Scripture: …and his name shall be called…The Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6, KJV

Today's Word: Jesus is our Prince of Peace. He gives us peace that passes understanding—which means we can have peace when it doesn’t make sense. We can have peace in the midst of the storm. We can have peace in the midnight hour. When we stay in a position of peace, that is a position of power. We aren’t moved by the changing wind and waves because the peace inside of us does not rise and fall with our circumstances. Call on the Prince of Peace. Give Him your burdens and cares. The Bible says that His yoke is easy, and His burden is light. When we are working and living the way God intends—full of peace and joy—we are carrying His “light” burden. Don’t carry the worries and stresses of this life! Call on the Prince of Peace, and He’ll be your refuge in troubled times.

Prayer for Today: Heavenly Father, thank You for peace that guides and protects me. I choose Your Word today which says that I can walk and live in Your peace. Thank You for being the Prince of Peace in my life today. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Do we spend time cultivating our inner beauty?

You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God. (NLT) 1 Peter 3:4

We spend a lot of time focusing on our outward appearance such as perfecting our hairstyle, improving our physique, selecting the right clothes. In all, a lot of thought goes into creating just the right look. Do we spend the same amount of time cultivating our inner beauty? We know what inner beauty looks like...patience, generosity, peace-loving, fearless, and filled with a silent strength. Are we spending more time worrying about the color of our teeth instead of the kind of words that come out of our mouth? Ultimately our words are a reflection of our heart.

Acts 7:30 ‘After forty years had passed, an angel appeared to Moses in the flames of a burning bush…’

- No matter how much time has passed, know that God has not forgotten you.
- After 40 years in the wilderness, God still had a plan for Moses.
- He has a plan and a purpose for your life.
- Look out for the unexpected and believe that God can turn things around!

PRAYER: Lord, thank You that regardless of what I have been through, and regardless of how much time has passed, You still have a plan for my life. I will look forward with anticipation, to see how You will speak to me and how You will use me. Amen.

Kind Regards
Pastor Andrew Roebert
