Default Just For Today–Day 3 - Putting Off Covetousness

Just For Today–Day 3 - Putting Off Covetousness by SGLY Ministry

Just for Today I will put off all…COVETOUSNESS
And He (Jesus) said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.”Luke 12:15 (NKJV)

Today’s Thought:
Covetousness is a strong desire for the possession of worldly things, especially things others might have.
An example might be the old saying “trying to keep up with the Joneses” ie: never satisfied with what you have, always wanting something new.
As followers of Jesus we need to put off all covetousness. We should be content with what we have and check ourselves daily to make sure we are not becoming greedy for the things of this world. Scripture says to: “Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.” Colossians 3:2 [NKJV] If our focus is on heavenly things, the temptation to covet earthly things will be easier to overcome.

Today’s Prayer:
Dear Lord, Just for Today help me to put off all Covetousness.
Just for Today help me to be content with all that I have.
I want to set my eyes and heart on things above rather than on the things of this world. I don’t want to be greedy, or intensely want material things for I know they do not satisfy.
Only You can satisfy the desire of my heart Lord, so I pray that all covetousness will be removed from my life today,so I can receive more of You.
