Default Skeptical

None of us approach recovery without being skeptical that it will work. We couldn't see how it worked, or that it worked at all. I didn't believe how long some people said they'd been sober, and if they happened to be telling the truth they seemed like they hadn't changed that much from the way I was. This all added to me being skeptical about recovery working for me. After sticking around for a while I noticed some who were also new had started to change. I wondered what had happened to them and where did they get their improved outlook from. I found out they had followed some of the suggestions of the program and it had started to work for them. I became envious of what they had and wanted it for myself. This is when I started to become less skeptical when I saw that it had worked for someone else. I later found out it always works for those who work it.
