Default Inner Beauty

Inner Beauty

Sometimes it is best to remain quiet when others are angry. Sometimes it is best to remain quiet when we are angry. Angry emotions can cause us to say things we don’t really mean. The tongue is powerful and can hurt those we love in just a matter of seconds when we speak out in anger. A quiet spirit means a great deal to God. When we can control our anger and our tongues, we will be pleasing God and setting a godly example for others.

1 Peter 3:4 “You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.” (NLT)

1 Peter 3:4 “Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. (KJV)

Dear Lord, we know it is so easy to get out of control. We know it is so easy to get angry with others when things are not going our way. Help us to not be selfish and out of control. Remind us to show love and patience with others. Help us to keep our words pleasant and our actions calm despite the situation. We want to be able to share Your love with others and we can’t do that when we have out of control emotions around others. Help us today, Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Inner beauty shows outwardly when we allow God to help us stay in control of our emotions.

Proverbs 29:11 “Fools vent their anger, but the wise quietly hold it back.” (NLT)

When we speak out in anger, it only makes matters worse.

Our tongues reveal our anger to others. God can help us control our tongues and remain calm.

James 3:2 “Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way.” (NLT)

Focus: When we are able to control our emotions and our tongue, we can be better witnesses for God.

We stay sober and clean together - one day at a time!
